The spider in Keren Gueller’s video installation is enclosed in a round, filmed and material frame, through which Gueller examines her boundaries. The conceptual landscape takes shape reflected in the water on which the spider stands. The spider, or rather, its attempts to escape that alter between frantic body movements and still floating, leads to the erasure and redrawing of the landscape. With the reference to the genre of landscape painting, Gueller brings together classical painting with the medium of space-based video art.
