Exoskeleton is an external shell, anatomically adapted to the body of animals, unlike the internal skeleton found in humans. Exoskeletons contain durable parts that protect, support, and nourish the body they encase. The works projected on the community center’s wall explore the connection between interior and exterior, as the building’s “skeleton” gains organic life, textures, and movement influenced by the external world in real time as well as the world of insects and the internal world of the featured artists.
The second-year students of the New Media Department created works for the festival as part of a projection mapping course led by Arik Futterman. The accurate projection works are customized for the building’s façade using various techniques including animation, 3D, video and Touch Designer.
