Any stone can be turned. Reveal what lies beneath. You can alter the terrain. But can you reverse the path?
The image that accompanies us is a “world” within which there is a “human” – what is the interaction between them? What do women do in the world? What do men do with the earth?
A large element in the work is comprised of giant earth tone textile pillows, inviting to touch, move, play, linger, laugh, and shout. Build a pillow fortress, geological fold, “Stonehenge” for a sun deity, or a comfortable lounging area to doze off in. The performer is very familiar with the space, like someone who regularly visits the same place in nature, a brook or a forest, walks along the same trails they know so well, and yet habitually discovers that the place keeps changing from day to day and from moment to moment. The presence of another person may push him into action: He wants to host and show the guest the secrets he has discovered, but he also wants go about his business in private. In any encounter he may find a partner, perhaps a rival.
