I really like falling down / Maria Stafyniak
Falling down on a stage and moments between a stumble and touching a catwalk is a sideshow's leitmotif. These moments are very special. They arouse emotions from sneering to tenderness. A fall itself convey a heavy connotation, it's associated with a defeat and failure.
Mare Tranquilities / Pawel Kula
Mare Tranquillitatis (The Sea of Tranquility) is the name of the flatlands located on the Moon’s visible side – it’s also a possible to attain state of mind when what has been divided comes back to one.
In the original version a video projection in a public space was accompanied with sounds played live on Tibetan gongs.
Stettin / Rafal Bajena
A dream come true, that in the end everyone moved out of the city and nature alone remained. A fictitious story about the annihilation of the city told with a healthy dose of humour.
Justyna Werbel / Mine is here
I left Szczecin, Poland in 1986 three years after the Martial law. I was 4. I returned on December 29, 2011 to observe it's current state of transformation. I am now 30. During this time I moved in with my Polish grandmother who was more of a stranger than my neighbour I left behind in Canada. Three months after my move my grandmother fell terminally ill and was diagnosed to live for another three months, this is when I met a man who lived on a cemetery inside the Gravediggers house. I made him a vegetable garden. I planted parsley, cherry tomatoes and mint. I found bones, spoons and swastikas. Every thing seems so simple.
Tata (walking) / Micha‚ Jurys
A zoomed video footage of a man walking on the beach towards the camera. In the video loop you see him in between two movements created by the diagonal line of the waves in the background and the sand carried by the wind in the front. Seemingly approaching the viewer, yet he is never coming closer—he remains unreachable, hidden, mysterious. The audience is confronted with an expectation that will not happen.
Silent Tension / Bartosz Nowak
Silent Tension is a movie made in šwinouj›cie, a city and a seaport by the Baltic Sea and Szczecin Lagoon, located in the extreme north-west of Poland. Former German city (navy base for submarines in IIWW).
After 2004 when Poland joined the EU people are able to freely walk along the beach through the German and Polish grounds.
The movie analyses touristic, economical, militaristic connotations of a specific human habitat where harbor, a coast and a boarder are located.
